Taliban defense ministry confirms Pakistani airstrikes on Kabul, Paktika

The Taliban’s Ministry of Defense has confirmed that Pakistani forces carried out airstrikes on Kabul and Paktika province, calling the attacks a violation of Afghanistan’s airspace.

In a statement issued Friday, the ministry described the strikes as “unprecedented in the history of relations between the two countries,” and labeled them “violent and unacceptable.”

“We condemn this incursion into Afghan territory in the strongest terms and affirm that defending our country’s sovereignty is our legitimate right,” the statement read.

The Taliban warned that if the situation escalates further, Pakistan’s military would bear full responsibility for the consequences.

The confirmation comes after overnight airstrikes reportedly struck the Afghan capital and Barmal district in Paktika province.

Pakistan has not publicly commented on the strikes. However, local sources claim the attack in Kabul killed a senior commander of Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
