Taliban claim 110 Pakistani soldiers killed as clashes intensify
The Taliban’s Defense Ministry claimed Saturday that 110 Pakistani soldiers had been killed and 68 wounded in what it described as retaliatory operations over the past two days.
In a statement, the ministry said its forces had carried out continued “operation” against Pakistani troops and had seized 27 military posts.
It also claimed that key military centers and facilities inside Pakistan had been targeted by Taliban drones, resulting in dozens more Pakistani casualties. The claims could not be independently verified.
Pakistani officials disputed the Taliban account. Attaullah Tarar, Pakistan’s information minister, claimed that since the start of Islamabad’s military operation, 331 Taliban members had been killed and more than 500 wounded.
In a post on X on Saturday, Tarar said Pakistani armed forces had destroyed 104 Taliban posts and seized 22 others. He did not provide details about the timing or precise locations of the operations.
The competing claims come as clashes between Taliban and Pakistani forces continue along the border, with both sides reporting air and ground operations in recent days.
